New Covered Electronic Waste Recycling Fee Rates Effective January 1, 2017

Effective January 1, 2017, the Covered Electronic Waste Recycling (eWaste) Fee will increase for all covered electronic devices (CEDs). The change is the result of an increase in fee rates approved by the Director of the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) on July 20, 2016. The new eWaste Fee rates are as follows:

More than 4 inches, less than 15 inches $3.00 $5.00
15 inches or more, less than 35 inches $4.00 $6.00
35 inches or more $5.00 $7.00

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is responsible for determining which phroducts qualify as CEDs. If you have questions regarding CEDs, please visit the DTSC website at www.dtsc.ca.gov or call 1-800-728-6942.

The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) is responsible for the administration and collection of the eWaste Fee. For more information about the BOE’s role in the eWaste Fee program, please visit the BOE website at www.boe.ca.gov/sptaxprog/electronic_waste_recycling_fee.htm.
