Updating Xentools on DVSC Controller 6.5

If you’re using Citrix XenServer 6.5 and have downloaded their DVSC Controller 6.5 and notice that the xen-tools is optimized for version 6.1, you can update it.

Here’s how:

Under XenCenter, click on the VM, then the Console tab.
Select the xs-tools.iso under teh DVD Drive 1 field.

Then Click on the General Tab and then Properties
Select Boot Options and under the OS boot parameters type in:
rw init=/bin/bash

Then restart the VM.

Once it has restarted, you will be at the bash prompt. Mount the DVD-ROM like you would in Linux.

mkdir /mnt/xentools

mount /dev/xvdd /mnt/xentools

cd /mnt/xentools/Linux

bash install.sh

And that will update the xentool to 6.5.

Go back to Properties under General Tab, remove the Boot Option, then restart the VM.

Now your DVS Controller has the latest Xen Tools.
