A ransomware attack based on leaked NSA hacking tools is spreading like wildfire among Windows systems across the world that are not patched. Thousands of computers have been affected in Russia alone.
After analyzing the results at the lab, researchers found that more than 45,000 computers were infected. They also found that the code was taking advantage of an exploit called EternalBlue that was patched by Microsoft shortly after being released.
A bitcoin wallet shows numerous incoming transactions worth around $250-$500 today so a few of those who were infected opted to pay.
