When considering buying a laptop from Intel, there are two choices: the core i processor (i5 and i7) and the Core M processor. Core i and core M are both perform very different functions and so i is very misleading that with the release of Kaby Lake, Intel has changed the core M processors (m5 and m7) to i5 and i7.
It is important for consumers to note that this device is a bit of a misnomer and they should be aware of the fact that just because the device is called an i5 processor, it doesn’t mean that it will perform the same functions.
So for clarification ask for the full name. Core M processors contain the letter Y in their name (i7-7Y75) and Core i processors contain the letter U (i7-75000U).
