Every time a webpage takes too long to load, they lose a viewer and potential business. Consumer’s attention span and patience are very low these days so Google has launched an Accelerated Mobile Pages program, which aims to substantially decrease the load time for many sites. Google debuted AMP in February and sites that were a part of AMP were able to drop their load times by 400% and use a tenth of the data as conventional websites.
To this day, Google has gathered more than 150 million URLs from 650,000 domains for the project. These sites will begin to to see faster load times and consumers will begin to pay more attention to not only the content but the advertisements as well.
Google is still looking to collaborate with other publishers and hopes to focus on content, distribution, and advertising to help businesses while also ensuring a better experience for mobile users.
