Reports from a few iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus buyers suggest that there could be an issue with the battery inside some devices swelling, causing the case to split open. This in turn is exposing the smart phone’s internals.
The reports so far have been very few but Apple’s team have already started the investigation. The issue appears to be limited to batteries bloating/swelling, rather than catching fire like the Samsung.
Sales wise, Apple has not released the numbers for the first weekend sales so it isn’t totally clear how many people actually own the iPhone 8. It could be because buyers want to hold off on buying the iPhone 8 to buy the iPhone X coming soon.
Pre-sales for the iPhone X begin on October 27th so be sure to watch out for the date!
