To Our Valued Clients,
In a continued effort to provide our clients with the best state-of-the-art data center infrastructure, this is to notify you that AIS will be performing UPS annual preventive maintenance beginning on Saturday, April 16, 2016.
Type of Maintenance: Electrical
Location: LWDC – 9305 Lightwave Ave., CA, 92123
Purpose: AIS electrical engineers will be verifying the functionality of the emergency power support systems and performing routine preventive maintenance on the UPS system.
High Level Summary: On April 16, 2016 at 5:00 AM, AIS will perform annual UPS maintenance. The intent of this initiative is to ensure continuous sustainability to the production environment by maintaining the UPS systems consistent with design & industry standard.
A) On the morning of April 16, 2016 one UPS module will be shut-down on the multi-module RPA UPS system (UPS 3A) and maintenance will be performed. The remaining module in this “N+1” redundant UPS system will remain online supporting critical load. Upon completion of the first module the module will be placed back online in RPA.
B) After a one hour interval AIS will perform an open transition transfer to EG, remain on EG for one hour, and then return to utility SES.
C) If sufficient time remains (NLT 4:00 PM), the second module will be isolated and the process repeated. If sufficient time does not remain (after 4:00 PM); the process will be repeated for the 2nd module on April 17, 2016. Subsequent to both module PM’s completion; UPS 3B1 will undergo an online visual inspection however will remain online.
The activity is not expected to negatively impact the production load environment.
Window Start: 4/16/2015 – 5:00 AM PDT
Window End: 4/17/2015 – 10:00 PM PDT
Service Impact: This maintenance is not expected to be service impacting though during the scheduled maintenance period on Saturday, April 16, 2016 while UPS 3A is shut-down, the UPS system alternate source will support the production environment without the “B” side availability. AIS customers supported by the “2N” configured environment will need to ensure proper “2N” distribution configuration for non-impacting fail-over.
Schedule: The window for maintenance is scheduled to begin at 5:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 and end no later than 10:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2017. The actual period time of work should not exceed 8 hours, however should additional time be required, notice will be provided and the maintenance window will be expanded.
Testing & Planning: All testing and planning being conducted during this window is part of a pre-defined checklist designed by the AIS electrical engineering team and consistent with IEEE and UL standards.
Regression Planning: The AIS electrical engineering team will be on-site managing this window. As with any mechanical work, while highly unlikely, there is a possibility that something unexpected may occur during the work process. Should any issues arise, all equipment will be placed back into standard operation and the work will be postponed until the issue is resolved.
